Spring Black Bear |
This was a very
exciting spring for us. Our new area North of Fort McMurray
turned out to be better than we could have imagined. It was
a lot of hard work establishing this new area, with a lot of
bridges to build & setting up the remote camps. It was a
great adventure for us as guides and for the clients being in
an untouched hunting area. All together we had 18 hunters shoot
29 bears, 10 of these bears were over 400lbs. With at least
4 in the 500lb range. Most bears were black in color but we
did get some color phases, about 20%. Next year will be better
yet with a lot of the work out of the way and 3 new areas discovered.
Can't wait to get back up there.

| Archery
Mule Deer |
Again this season
we had 4 archery hunters and killed 3 bucks. The 4th guy had
some bad luck wounding a 170 class and missing a 160 class buck.
John Berger set the new record for quickest kill after getting
off the airplane, 1 ½ hours.

| Elk |
This year we had
terrible weather for calling Elk. We started off with rain and
ended with wind. The hunters toughed it out but we were only
able to take 5 bulls for 8 hunters. Elk numbers are the best
ever for this area but we do need the weather to cooperate.
Looking forward to next year.

| Moose |
Moose hunts went
very good. The trophy hunters went 100% with 4 for 4 and our
main camp hunt was 10 for 8. With 1 guy missing a nice 50-inch
bull that was following a trotting cow. We have now taken 57
moose hunters since 2000 for 54 bull moose. Numbers will be
good next year as well.
