Mule Deer Hunt |
This
fall started with archery mule deer hunters on the 3rd day of
their hunt we took a nice 150 P&Y from a tree stand in a
good funnel spot, 2 bigger bucks were seen but did not present
a shot. For the other hunter we had seen a buck that would go
190 P&Y so we kept trying for him but he would not cooperate.
We also would have taken a 175 back at the funnel spot but he
would cross the open field instead of using the funnel.
On the last evening after legal shooting light we went to pick
up our stand in the funnel and our buck was standing below the
stand, laughing at us! The next week we harvested a nice 172
in a picture perfect stalk and then a good follow up stalk.
Then on day 4 we had a really nice 4x4 pose for us to make an
excellent shot. We had a lot of fun on these hunts and saw excellent
bucks. |

Elk Hunt
|
We
took 7 hunters out during the rut. Things started off cold with
a wet snow and we didn't have much luck for a couple of days.
Then things got back to normal and we harvested a couple of
5x5's. By the time the week was up we had 5 bulls one good 6x6
and a couple of "almosts".
All in all we had a good season considering the weather, but
we hope to get back to 100% again next year. |

Moose Hunt |
Moose
hunts started with Sandy Mellon from Outdoor Quest on the Outdoor
Channel shooting a bull with her muzzleloader that came in calling
to 70 yards. Next was a group of 6 that hunted from the lodge
they took 6 moose and 2 bears, lots of fun. The next group of
6 also got 6 bulls one was 55 inches wide and scored 190 b&c
and another was real tall with long points. Great year for moose
the numbers are up and the age class is getting older which
is nice to see. |
I got to hunt for myself for all
of November. I shot a 150 Whitetail and a nice 6x6 elk. My wife
Tara got her first Whitetail that scored 156 b&c and also
had a moose draw and killed a good meat bull. Can't believe
it's all over again. Only 5 months until bear season and I can't
wait.
