2001 Hunting Summary
As an outfitter and guide this was
my most successful season to date and hope for more of the same for
2002. |
| Spring Bear Hunt |
 We
started our season with 12 Bear hunters the weather cooperated
well and the bears were plentiful. In the end we harvested 5
cinnamon, 4 chocolate and 11 black for a total of 20 bears.
Our biggest bear this year was 500lbs, measuring 71/2 feet with
a 350 average. All in all it was a fun season. We have also
acquired a new area that has never been hunted so we predict
some extra large bears this coming year. |
| Whitetail & Mule Deer Hunt |
 Our next hunt was a bow mule deer & Whitetail combo. We put a stalk on at least a 150 to 190 pope & young mule deer every day & ended up taking a 140 deer the third day. The reason for so many big mule deer is a very limited draw system & no bow hunting pressure. We ended up hunting mostly for a large 190 & mule deer, we only sat 2 evenings in stands for Whitetail so the biggest one was a small 120 4x4 that we could have taken but passed on. We had an exciting week with many close calls on monster deer. The following week I harvested a 180 pope & young mule deer for myself with a 30 inch spread my personal best with my bow. |
| Rut Elk Hunt |
 September
17th started our Elk season with 1 5x5 the following morning
we got a 5x5 & 6x6 the fourth day we took a nice 5x5, we had
one other hunter but he injured his back prior to the hunt &
was only able to make two attempts before his back gave out.
My main guide Ty also was able to harvest a huge 6x6 scoring
355 Boone & Crocket after the guys tagged out. We learned a
few new tricks to get them in close and we also learned again
how sneaky they can be. |
| Rut Moose Hunt |

This
fall we had what I consider to be our most successful moose
season ever we got 10 moose for 10 hunters and had lot's to
choose from. Our average moose was close to 40 inches this
season. 2002 we should be seeing an older age class with larger
horns yet. We finished our season with four guys on a November
hunt again we saw a lot of moose we kept track between the
four guys we saw 56 moose the first three days and ended with
three nice bulls.
